Matinee

13/04/2024

We invite you on April 13 (Saturday), at 12 o’clock, to the MoCA – Skopje guided tour and, as a side event, a matinee with a DJ set by Darko Jordanov.
With our curator guide Bojana Janeva you will be able to see the two newly opened exhibitions:

Coordinates of a Dream: 60 Years of Projecting contemporaneity MoCA SKOPJE 1964-2024
Curators: Vladimir Janchevski and Blagoja Varoshanec

The museum’s rich exhibition history includes hundreds of individual and group exhibitions of domestic and foreign artists, the “Young Generation” exhibitions from 1967, which grew into the “Youth Biennale” (1987-present), the educational and film program, but also a rich publishing activity, which includes monographic publications, as well as the magazine for contemporary art, culture and theory, from the first to the latest issue.
In the exhibition, in addition to the review of visual and documentary material, posters and publications, a selection of artworks from the MoCA-Skopje collection will be presented, including those of Marino Tartaglja, Hans Hartung, Alexander Calder, Petar Lubarda, Dusan Otasevic, Petar Hadzi Boshkov, Jordan Grabul, Aneta Svetieva, Malgorzata Potocka, Jovan Shumkovski, Hristina Ivanoska, Chto Delat.

“Propaganda Station”, a solo exhibition by the world-famous artist Jonas Staal
Curator: Ivana Vaseva

Propaganda Station is a new complex installation and live program by Dutch artist Jonas Staal, exploring the involvement of art and culture in the dominant forms of contemporary propaganda as well as the tools and possibilities of (counter)propaganda—forms that emerge from emancipatory grassroots and liberation movements.
This is his first solo presentation in North Macedonia and is organized by the organization Faculty of things that can’t be learned – FRU in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art – Skopje within the scope of the international project Islands of Kinship: A Collective Manual for Sustainable and Inclusive Art Institutions.
Propaganda Station aims to make visible the various contemporary propagandas that actively shape our world today. The central installation is designed as an inverse panopticon: instead of surveilling the visitor, it provides the viewer a position of counter-surveillance over the work of propagandists who influence our everyday life.

Afterwards, at 1:00 p.m., as a side event, we organize a Matinee with a DJ set, where we will be able to summarize the impressions from the exhibitions.

Entrance ticket 150 MKD.
The event is realized with the support of MSU’s friend – Tikvesh.
