The Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje is curating a landmark exhibition of Ken Friedman’s work, also featuring Gjoko Muratovski.
The exhibition 92 Events + 1 will mark 70 years of Ken’s arts practice and 60 years since he, as the youngest participant, joined Fluxus, the groundbreaking movement he shaped alongside George Maciunas, George Brecht, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Joseph Beuys, John Cage, as well as Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
This exhibition will present all 92 scores by Ken Friedman, and also recreating select works from earlier in his career, among them a piece originally made in 1971 for John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s exhibition “This is Not Here” at The Everson Museum in Syracuse, New York.
Ken Friedman’s work is already held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Harvard Art Museum, and the Smithsonian Institution. This exhibition will add a new collection of his works to MoCA’s permanent holdings – including a work about the City of Skopje that Ken and Gjoko Muratovski created together for this occasion (the +1).
*The exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art and financially supported by Gjoko Muratovski, Vladimir Janchevski and Ljupcho Iljovski.
