On November 10, at 8 p.m., at the Museum of Contemporary Art – Skopje, the artist Dan Turner will give a lecture with a physical presence. The title of the lecture is “Romani contemporary art against structural inequality”, and a conversation with the artist will be conducted by Artan Sadiku.
Dan Turner is one of the artists whose work will be exhibited in the exhibition All That We Have In Common, organized by the Museum of contemporary art in Skopje and Manifesta Biennial. We will discuss the artistic practice of Dan through the struggle which has always been about how to make art that did not deny his heritage. It’s a meditation on the past, the present, and the future, looking at how Romani Contemporary Art can support the Roma community and its values, and provide an alternative form of activism in tackling structural inequality. More and more the richness of this culture inspires new ideas for work, and he has realized that his culture and identity are his practice.
