Irena Pejovikj: You Are a Mobile Architecture

10/07/ 2018 - 09/09 2018

You Are a Mobile Architecture is an ongoing investigation of the architecting within the environments of moving.

It has no fixed meaning and no fixed form. It’s a haptic space, a smooth space where wind whistles, wood cracks.

It requires all to participate in its becoming. It requires an open process of making, to allow for a work that is live, a form that is in forming.

The exhibition consists of a multi-sensorial event that choreographs movements through propositions such as: wearables, modular forms, the photographic object, sound as a location, materiality as the event, techniques of ordering by nature and humans, and what is occurring.

Irena Pejovic (b. 1981, Gevgelija, Macedonia) is an interdisciplinary artist based in NJ. She received her BFA and MFA from Montclair State University. Pejovic makes events that go beyond the visual realm, choreographing movements that turn the audience into an explorer of a world that is active and becoming—as a set of unfolding relationships—in a way that they have not before. In her work, the audience is moving-sensing, using vision, sound, navigation, feeling texture, color, scale, being both mobile and immobile.

Recent solo exhibitions include Nancy Dryfoos Gallery at Kean University, Union, NJ; Galerija Karas, Zagreb, Croatia; Gallery MC, New York; Gallery Aferro, Newark, NJ.
