Guide Through the Defragmentation Exhibition and a Matinee

15/09/ 2023

As the actual exhibition Defragmentation approaches a closing, the museum offers the last opportunity for a visit with a personal guide on Saturday, September 2, starting at 12 noon.

The curator Bojana Janeva from the museum’s Education Department will present the works donated by artists from Central European countries.

Following the guiding tour, a matinee will be a side event with a DJ set by Mirko Popov and Violeta Kachakova. The matinee will start at 1:00 pm on the Museum of Contemporary Art porch with a city view to Skopje.

For the younger audience, we also organize a Children’s corner, where they can draw encouraged and inspired by the exhibition.

Spend Saturday afternoon in a joint gathering with us to enjoy the last days of summer in the city panorama at the highest point in the heart of Skopje with good music and drinks, where we will all together once again remember that our MoCA is a central monument and symbol of world solidarity in the reconstruction of Skopje.

The exhibition “Defragmentation” presents works from the collection of MoCA-Skopje, donated by artists from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia: 96 works by 86 consisting of a selection of paintings, sculptures and prints, that were created during the 20th century, representing an overview of the achievements in the art of several generations of artists from the countries of Central Europe, as well as the important foundational contribution to the MoCA’s collection.

With the exhibition, The Museum of Contemporary Art is marking the 60th anniversary of the Skopje 1963 earthquake. As the curators themselves say, the exhibition is a reminder of world solidarity, a concept on which MoCA is based.
The collection of MoCA Skopje holds a total of 5291 works, including 22 works by 11 artists from Slovakia, 56 works by 27 artists from Hungary, 266 works by 105 artists from the Czech Republic and 224 works by 136 artists from Poland.
