Founders of the Macedonian Contemporary Fine Art

Тhe objective of this exhibition is to review, through the Museum of Contemporary Art’s artwork collection, the opus of the artists that usually fall under the syntagm “founders of the Macedonian contemporary fine art” (Dimitar Avramovski Pandilov, Lazar Ličenoski, Nikola Martinoski, Dimo Todorovski, Tomo Vladimirski, Vangel Kodžoman and Ljubomir Belogaski). We think that their presence, that is, the presence of their artworks in our cultural milieu, should be permanent so that we can, as a cultural surroundings, especially considering the younger generations, get a clearer picture of the achieved value models that were created and that should be continued as an attitude towards the world and the art. Maybe the values that in this moment seem significant to us as an attitude, as a serious approach to the act of creating art and everything that act includes in a wider context, are the ones that are the most needed to be included in the horizon of our endeavors.

Elegantly adapted to the configuration of the Skopje medieval fortress and surrounded by the panoramic view of the city, the Museum building, constructed in 1970, is an excellent example of the architecture of the late modernism and symbol of the renewal of Skopje after the 1963 earthquake.
