99 Files: #Skopje Brutalism

Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje, 22. 06 – 16. 07 2018

The Laboratory Landscape_inProgress, of the Mediterranea University, presents 99FILES project on the brutalist architectural heritage, focusing in particular on the City of Skopje.

The initiative intends to stimulate a different point of observation of this heritage, releasing it from the entailed negative connotation from the ideological legacies, while stimulating different interpretative directions of an important string in the architectural thinking.

Balkan cities are cases still to be investigated through new visions capable of recognizing the role of this important architectural production that can be considered as the last urban utopia of the twentieth century.

The focus of the first edition is the city of Skopje, capital of Macedonia.

The project constructs a Digital Archive http://landscapeinprogress.unirc.it/ as a collection of drawings, photos, videos and texts produced by invited and selected participants.

99FILES is supported by the Mediteranea University of Reggio Calabria, Italian Embassy in Skopje, Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Faculty of Architecture in Skopje, Municipality of Centar with ABITARE as media partner.
